Job summary

Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, MA, seeks an 80% Upper School Spanish Teacher to cover a leave from January 2027 to June 2027. The teacher will instruct Spanish levels III Honors, IV, and AP Spanish Language, collaborate with the Spanish Program, and attend World Language Department meetings.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in Spanish language instruction, preferably native speakers or near-native fluency, with a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of full-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Two years of full-time teaching experience preferred.
• Familiarity with AP Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and curriculum guidelines.
• Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, tests, and projects; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance.
• Supervises the behavior of students and discusses academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students as they arise.
• Monitors students' progress throughout the year.
• Communicates progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and Campus Director.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
• Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
• Maintains required paperwork for student files, attendance and incident reports.
