Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability seeks a Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and student independence at MSA Upper School. You will help implement lesson plans, monitor progress, and assist with daily living activities as needed.

The role requires NYSED TA certification (or active pursuit) and willingness to complete workshops. Teamwork and empathy are essential to help students achieve their educational goals.

Qualifications

• Current NYSED Teacher Assistant certification or active pursuit with requirements in progress.
• Passing score on NYSTCE ATAS exam and completion of required workshops.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain NYSED certification during employment.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with instructional activities and supervise students as directed.
• Observe behavior, implement individualized plans, and document data.
• Assist with ADLs and feeding protocols while maintaining safety.
• Attend meetings and coordinate schedules across classroom and related staff.
