Job summary

Davidson County Schools’ Wallburg Elementary in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom staff. The role involves guiding students, operating media equipment, and assisting with lesson activities.

A CDL license is required to drive a school bus when assigned, and the position runs about 19.75 hours weekly under a 10-month term. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and 3–6 months related experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school.
• Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of basic needs and developmental stages of children.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to operate media and technology equipment (computer, projector, etc.).
• Must obtain CDL license to drive a school bus, and may serve as substitute or regular bus driver.

Responsibilities

• Discusses assigned duties with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Performs duties in areas such as the principal's office, classrooms, media center, or computer labs.
• Plans, prepares, and develops teaching aids.
• Supervises groups in cafeteria, library, playground, restrooms and other areas.
• Operates learning aids and technology equipment including computers.
• Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments.
