Job summary

McLean County Unit District No. 5 is seeking a Substitute Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year for all district schools. Reports to Building Principal(s) and operates as a Non-Exempt position under the Unit Office with licensure requirements.

The role involves providing classroom instruction and support to Unit 5 students, following lesson plans, and maintaining an engaging learning environment across district classrooms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the Substitute License through ROE #17.
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.

Responsibilities

• Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans and school rules.
• Lead instruction in the classroom by following the teacher's lesson plans.
• Instruct students on a variety of classroom topics.
• Build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Motivate students to learn and encourage classroom participation.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students.
• Adapt to varying learning styles and social needs of students.
• Maintain order in the classroom and demonstrate confidence working with students of varying strengths and skills.
