Job summary

North Shore School District 112 is seeking Substitute/Guest Teachers to support instructional continuity across elementary and middle school levels. Substitutes may replace teachers, paraprofessionals, clerical staff, or nurses, ensuring smooth lessons and classroom management throughout the day.

Participants follow the Substitute Teacher Handbook, adhere to district policies, and may be assigned long-term duties including lesson planning and parent communication.

Responsibilities

• Report to main office on time, check in, review plans and prepare for lessons
• Familiarize yourself with the building and staff; seek help when needed
• Uphold District policies, rules and procedures
• Maintain routines and procedures for the school and classroom
• Teach lessons outlined in substitute plans
• Maximize success by communicating behavioral and academic expectations, adapting for individual learners, involving students, and providing a safe environment
• Oversee student behavior during supervisory periods and maintain professional standards
• Provide direction to students in emergencies
• Follow directions from the absent staff member and conclude the day
• Check in/out at main office
• If long-term, assume duties of full-time teacher including parent communication and conferences
• Provide feedback to teachers and principal using provided forms
• Check out at end of day
• If long-term, assume all duties of a full-time teacher
