Qualifications

• High school diploma required; teaching certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Report to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival.
• Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to student needs.
• Teach the assigned lesson as outlined in the Substitute Teacher's Guide.
• Ensure district policies are observed during all activities.
• Create a safe, conducive learning environment.
• Keep students supervised at all times.
• Be familiar with fire exits and emergency procedures.
• Review notes, take attendance, and follow daily lesson plans.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Demonstrate adaptability and appropriate conduct while on assignment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
• Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate records as required by policy.
• Leave detailed notes for the teacher on any issues.
