Job summary

Sheltering Arms is seeking a Substitute Teacher to assist regular staff in caring for and educating a group of children. This role is not benefits eligible and requires patience, reliability, and the ability to engage children on their level.

You will follow established routines, support social and emotional development, and establish positive relationships with families. The position involves lifting up to 30 lbs, floor activities, and supervising children in classroom and play areas.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CDA or Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Be able to sit on floor and interact with children.
• Lift and carry at least 30 lbs unassisted and 50 lbs with assistance.
• Hear children from a distance of at least 70 feet.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an orderly learning environment.
• Promote healthy eating by eating with children.
• Share routine duties with other staff.
• Assist in keeping room and other areas neat and clean.
• Interact with children in activities you supervise.
• Perform hand washing and sanitizing procedures.
• Greet parents and visitors with a smile and friendly manner.
• Follow classroom schedule and center rules.
• Display a positive outlook and pleasant manner.
