Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a Substitute for Grades 6-8 to provide classroom instruction when the teacher is unavailable and to maintain classroom order per lesson plans.

Requires completion of GCPS Substitute Teacher Training within 30 days of hire or possession of a valid teaching certificate, or completion of student teaching. An associate degree or 60 semester hours is required, with transcripts on file.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
• Knowledge of child development.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, central office staff, school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction for the teacher of record.
• Maintain classroom management in the absence of the teacher of record.
• Follow lesson plans and behavior intervention plans as designed by the teacher of record.
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school/district personnel.
• Demonstrate punctuality and flexibility.
• Ensure records and files are accurate and maintained.
