Alabaster City Schools is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to provide safe transportation for students on established routes. You must hold a valid school bus license, Alabama driver's license, and a current commercial driver's license, with a biannual physical examination as required by policy.

Responsibilities include adhering to traffic laws, maintaining professionalism, reporting incidents, and maintaining bus readiness and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED and basic skills competency.

Responsibilities

• Observe all traffic laws, safety regulations, policies, and procedures regarding school buses in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines.
• Demonstrates the ability to work with school age children.
• Maintain a professional appearance and promote good public relations.
• Remain drug and alcohol free in the workplace and be subject to random testing.
• Be regular and punctual in attendance and follow procedures for signing in daily.
• Maintain appropriate student management and report incidents to supervisors.
• Cooperate with school staff and parents to resolve discipline problems.
• Conduct bus evacuation drills per approved procedures.
• Transport authorized passengers only and follow scheduled routes and times.
• Discharge students at authorized stops only.
• Keep bus clean by daily sweeping and periodic washing.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors using provided devices.
