Job summary

Qualifications

• At least 20 years of age.
• A minimum of 30 college credits from an accredited college.
• Demonstrated experience in working with children.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with implementing the daily program.
• Assist with clerical work, recordkeeping, and preparation of instructional materials.
• Assist with supervision of students and behavior management.
• Preview instructional plan components and prepare accordingly.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to aid learning.
• Implement the district's educational goals and objectives.
• Support students with special needs as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderly classroom materials.
• Assist with transitions to other classrooms and activities.
• Provide instructional support in labs, media centers, or libraries.
• Supervise on approved instructional field trips.
• Help with grooming, health habits, and toileting for young or special-needs students.
• Lift items as needed.
• Assist with interruptions and emergencies.
• Participate in in-service/workshops.
• Serve as a role model in attitude, attire, and work ethic.
• Change diapers in Early Childhood/Special Education settings as needed.
• Communicate unusual student needs to teachers and alert staff to safety concerns.
• Adhere to school policies and procedures.
• Establish high standards and a positive learning environment.
• Display professional behavior with students, parents, and staff.
• Foster a nurturing classroom climate and positive student responsibility.
