Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is hiring teachers to lead classrooms on the North/Northwest Side of Chicago. Under school supervision, you will guide instruction, monitor progress, manage discipline, and collaborate with case managers and general educators to support student success.

Must hold a valid Illinois teaching license with LBS1 endorsement and have a bachelor’s degree or higher. Applicants should complete the CPS online application and teaching profile to be considered.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
• A valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education, with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the role - LBS1.
• Complete CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of content, pedagogy, and student knowledge to select objectives and design instruction and assessments.
• Create a respectful classroom culture with strong management of student behaviors and procedures that supports diverse learners.
• Design engaging instruction addressing student needs with challenging questions, effective communication, and aligned assessments.
• Exhibit strong oral and written communication and professional judgment in interactions with administration, colleagues, families, and students.
• Prioritize student safety through consistent implementation of school codes and discipline systems.
• Personalize learning through curriculum resources and technology as available.
