Job summary

Odyssey Academy seeks a qualified Special Education Teacher to provide learning activities designed to help students reach their potential. You will develop or modify curricula, prepare lessons, and work in self-contained, team, or itinerant capacities as assigned.

You will collaborate with families and staff to develop IEPs through the ARD process, implement instructional programs, and plan using appropriate strategies reflecting student needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• One year of student teaching or approved internship.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with families and staff to develop IEPs through ARD for assigned students.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs and document preparation as required.
• Plan and use instructional strategies and materials that reflect students' learning styles and needs.
• Work with regular teachers to modify curricula and assist special education students in regular classes with assignments.
• Attend ARD Committee meetings and conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by IEP and use technology in teaching.
• Supervise teacher aide(s) and volunteers and coordinate with other staff.
