Job summary

Lake Tahoe Community College invites qualified instructors to join the Intensive Spanish Summer Institute (ISSI) for a one-week session toward the end of July. Courses are taught predominantly in Spanish and focus on immersion, with class days from 7:30am to 5pm and a 90-minute lunch break.

Candidates should demonstrate equity-minded teaching, cultural responsiveness, and the ability to collaborate across the college to support diverse student populations.

Qualifications

• All faculty must meet state-adopted minimum qualifications or the locally established equivalencies.
• Spanish language instruction requires a Master’s in the language being taught or an equivalent.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community-college students.
• Applicants who claim equivalent qualifications must provide evidence at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses for the Intensive Spanish Summer Institute.
• Prepare in-class or online activities and evaluate student work.
• Maintain accurate class records and submit attendance and grade reports.
• Follow course outlines and LTCC policies; observe and enforce regulations.
• Provide each student with a written syllabus and refer to college resources when needed.
• Foster a respectful, inclusive classroom environment and collaborate with colleagues.
