SKYLINE MIDDLE SCHOOL in Harrisonburg, Virginia is seeking a qualified Long Term Substitute Science teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The substitute will support student learning in the absence of the regular teacher and maintain established routines.

Responsibilities include reviewing lesson plans, delivering instruction, coordinating with administrators, and completing required paperwork. Candidates must meet Virginia certification requirements and clear background checks.

Qualifications

• Must have a Virginia teaching license.
• Must submit a current TB certificate within twelve months.
• Must pass criminal background checks (State Police and DSS/CPS).
• Emotionally mature, objective, and responsible.
• Able to work independently and maintain positive relationships with students, families and staff.

Responsabilités

• Reports to the building administrator or school secretary upon arrival.
• Reviews all lesson plans and schedules prior to student arrival.
• Maintains established routines and procedures of the classroom.
• Teaches the lesson outlined by the absent teacher.
• Consults with administration to understand schedule and assignments.
• Maintains a positive classroom climate and demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching/learning.
• Completes the Substitute Assessment Form and leaves it for the regular teacher.
