San José Unified is seeking a Substitute Student Nutrition team member to ensure students have access to nutritious meals in a safe, welcoming environment. Your flexibility and reliability help maintain continuity of service so students feel supported, cared for, and ready to learn each day.

Qualifications

• Completion of 10th grade, or any combination of education, experience and training which is equivalent.
• Dependable and adaptable professional who works well with students and staff.
• Able to follow procedures, learn routines quickly and maintain cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and service of nutritious meals per district menus and guidelines.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures to keep a clean service area.
• Set up and clean food service areas and equipment before, during, and after meals.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely as trained.
• Support inventory organization, storage, and proper rotation of supplies.
• Assist with meal counts and basic documentation as required.
• Provide friendly, respectful customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Work collaboratively with site staff to ensure meals run smoothly and on schedule.
• Adapt quickly to different school sites, schedules, and teams.
• Report equipment, safety, or food service concerns promptly to supervisors.
