Job summary

Dothan City Schools in Alabama seeks an Assistant Principal for a 10-month (or 12-month) assignment. The candidate must hold a Master’s degree and valid Alabama Educational Leadership certification, with at least 3 years of classroom teaching and/or administrative experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Alabama certification in Educational Leadership or School Principal Professional, or Administration and Supervision.
• Three years classroom teaching experience and/or administrative experience.
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate commitment to the system and school mission.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs at the assigned school.
• Assist the principal in creating a conducive learning environment.
• Assist in coordinating and evaluating instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist in coordinating and supervising all testing programs at the school.
• Assist in selecting, supervising, and evaluating school-based personnel.
• Develop and coordinate policies for school operations and services.
• Facilitate implementation of the student conduct code to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Support staff development programs and professional growth.
• Assist in programs for students with special needs (e.g., SPED, ESOL, 504).
• Develop family and community involvement initiatives and partnerships.
• Analyze student performance data to guide curriculum improvement.
• Assist in budget development and monitoring for the school.
