Job summary

Buckeye Valley Family YMCA in Zanesville, OH is seeking an Entry Level Part-Time coordinator to help lead a structured before/after school program for children ages 5–12. You will support daily lessons, safety, and engagement under supervision, promoting the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Ideal candidates will be at least 18, possess a HS diploma, and have CPR/First Aid training with strong communication skills to build relationships with children and families.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age and high school diploma/GED required; associate or bachelor degree preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse prevention and Management of Communicable Disease training.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting.
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal).
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with individuals from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability and safety of the before/after school program site.
• Maintain staff/child ratio as set by the Director of Child Development and Ohio licensing regulations.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements per YMCA guidelines and Ohio child care regulations.
• Implement daily lesson plans and manage setup/breakdown of supplies and equipment.
• Develop positive relationships with children to promote self-esteem and self-discipline.
• Establish positive relationships with families and share program news and changes.
• Maintain program records (CACFP documentation, attendance, sign-in/out, incident reports).
• Supervise children across program areas and report concerns to supervisor.
• Attend training workshops and maintain CPR/First Aid and other required trainings.
