Job summary

New Mexico Orthopaedic Associates P C in Albuquerque is seeking a physical therapist assistant to assist licensed therapists in delivering prescribed physical therapy treatments at the Winrock Clinic. You will help implement plans, document progress, and support patients during therapeutic activities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of PT principles, standards and practices.
• Excellent communication and computer skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, co-workers, patients and vendors.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Effective clinical problem-solving skills.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Must maintain professional demeanor at all times.
• Must be able to prioritize assignments and follow up to ensure task completion.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends. Supervisor will determine hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• May assist in development of treatment plans, documentation of treatment progress, and modification of treatments within PT guidance.
• Instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist patients with modalities, rehabilitative activities and exercises.
• Utilize treatments to restore, improve and maintain functioning, alleviate pain or prevent dysfunction.
• Confer with patients, medical practitioners or other parties to plan, implement or assess intervention programs.
• Manage active patients to ensure attendance and adherence to treatment plans.
• Document care and patient information in accordance with HIPAA and NMOA policies.
• Observe patient during treatments and report progress to the PT.
• Fit patients for braces, prostheses and supportive devices and instruct on use.
• Measure ROM, body part dimensions, and vital signs for evaluations.
• Assist with patient transport.
• Adhere to policies and ensure patient service and cleanliness.
• Attend required meetings and participate in committees.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient data per HIPAA and policy.
• Participate in quality improvement plans.
• Comply with professional, ethical and legal standards.
• Regular attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
