Job summary

Qualifications

• North Carolina teaching license or eligibility to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Teach general science, earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, or science problems to secondary pupils using the adopted course of study and other learning activities.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and state-required subject matter and procedures.
• Plan a science program with demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments; organize lab activities for optimal learning.
• Demonstrate scientific concepts using apparatus, experiments, and teacher-prepared aids.
• Provide for individual or small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to pupil needs.
• Instruct pupils in safe use and handling of chemicals and equipment; maintain safety standards.
• Establish and maintain standards of behavior for a productive learning environment.
• Evaluate pupil growth in knowledge and skills.
• Select and requisition books and supplies and maintain inventory records.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service activities and professional growth.
