Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking a dedicated Middle School History teacher to join a team focused on developing students into self-guided learners and global citizens. You will teach, analyze data with leadership, and differentiate instruction within an in-house curriculum emphasizing diverse histories across Indigenous peoples, African Americans, women, and other groups.

Qualifications

• Commitment to supporting students' social emotional and academic development.
• Enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students.
• Self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes.
• Interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools; 1–2 years preferred.
• Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; NJ certification eligibility required; certification within NJ after employment.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student-led discourse; engage in open-ended questions and debates.
• Analyze trends in student work with principal/coach; differentiate instruction for all learners.
• Teach in-house curriculum highlighting diverse histories and voices.
• Build positive relationships with students and families; manage classroom culture.
