Job summary

Billy Mills Middle School in Lawrence, KS is seeking a Cross Country Head Coach for the middle school program. This twelve-month supplemental position, 1.0 FTE, starts immediately and includes a seasonal stipend.

The coach will ensure compliance with KSHSAA rules, supervise practices, manage rosters, and coordinate safety checks and pre-participation requirements.

The role reports to the athletic director and principal, emphasizing discipline, sportsmanship, and student growth.

Qualifications

• Sport-specific participation required.
• Coaching experience preferred.
• CPR/AED certified or willing to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain records of evaluation procedures used in selecting squad members.
• Enforce all rules of the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
• Maintain an accurate squad roster at all times.
• Verify that no candidate is issued equipment or allowed to practice until all forms are completed.
• Supervise practice sessions and maintain security of the locker room.
• Serve as an advisor to the students on the squad.
• Report injuries of participants to proper school officials per policy.
