Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a High School Assistant Coach to support the head coach in organizing and delivering a comprehensive athletics program. You will help with practices, game strategies, and student development while ensuring eligibility, safety, and budget adherence.

You will collaborate with the athletic department, communicate with players and families, and participate in events and fundraising to advance the program’s goals and community partnerships.

Qualifications

• Proper certification with American Sport Education Program and/or Illinois Teaching certificate.
• Pass IHSA required tests and view videos.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and oversees specific program levels or areas of responsibility.
• Work within the head coach's organizational structure
• Verify that all participants have fully registered and are eligible.
• Develop game schedules, practice schedules, facilities use, transportation needs, and the program budget.
• Communicate and plan practice sessions and competition strategies with the head coach.
• Attend pre-season meetings to review eligibility, codes of conduct, team rules, injury prevention and risks.
• Supervise practices and contests and manage equipment inventory and care.
• Maintain safety of facilities and equipment and communicate with stakeholders.
• Foster relationships with students, parents, staff and community to support the program.
