Job summary

Fort Bend ISD seeks an DAEP Aide Instructional to support classroom teachers and students in a school environment. This role assists with instruction, prepares materials, and provides coverage during teacher meetings while operating instructional equipment.

You will work with individual students and small groups, collaborate with substitute teachers, attend campus and district meetings, and help supervise DAEP students during activities. Filing and data collection support are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college hours or passing score on the Para Professional Assessment of Knowledge.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification required to obtain once hired.
• Texas Educational Aide Certification preferred or will be required to obtain once hired.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support for the classroom teacher.
• Assist with record keeping, preparation and development of instruction and assistance to students.
• Provide coverage for the classroom during teacher meetings.
• Operate a variety of classroom instructional equipment, including and not limited to computers, audio/visual and video equipment.
• Work with individual students and small groups on assignments.
• Work cooperatively with substitute teacher in providing instruction and assistance to students.
• Participate and attend required campus and /or district meetings.
• Assist supervision of DAEP students on the playground and /or during any school-sponsored activity occurring during the school day.
• Perform clerical tasks such as typing correspondence, copying materials, etc.
• Assist in the safe and orderly movement of all DAEP students to and from the classroom.
• Lift, position and restrain students when necessary to maintain a safe environment.
• Collect data, and maintain student records and charts for determining student progress in collaboration with the teacher.
