Job summary

Spring Independent School District SMITH ES in Spring, Texas seeks a Discipline Alternative Education Aide for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports teachers in preparing instructional materials and managing classroom activities for students who are at risk and placed in the DAEP program, while complying with program requirements.

This non-exempt, full-time position is funded by federal/state grants. Wage is 187 days per year with pay grade Para 3; starting date is Immediate.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma and Educational Aide Certification required.
  • Two years of college coursework (48 hours) acceptable with certification.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
  • Educational Aide Certification must be obtained if not already held.
  • One-year experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
  • Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment
  • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
  • Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned
  • Assist in the classroom or other offices when needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
