Job summary

YMCA Buffalo Niagara in Buffalo, NY seeks a dedicated Group Fitness Instructor to lead safe, engaging classes that promote member wellness and engagement.

You will create a welcoming environment, adapt instruction to participants' abilities, and maintain program standards, cleanliness, and safety. Certifications required include a National Group Fitness Instruction certification and CPR/AED plus First Aid; weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

• National Certification in Group Fitness Instruction within one year of employment.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification from recognized bodies.
• At least one year of experience teaching group exercise classes.
• Ability to build positive relationships with diverse participants.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, educational, and safe group exercise classes that meet program standards.
• Create a welcoming environment where individuals feel respected and engaged.
• Adapt instruction to participants' capabilities, health concerns, and cultural preferences.
• Answer questions and provide empathetic guidance to help members achieve wellness goals.
• Identify and celebrate member successes to foster motivation and accomplishment.
• Maintain current knowledge of wellness trends and apply to instruction.
• Follow department protocols to clean and disinfect surfaces and keep spaces organized.
• Adhere to YMCA policies, safety procedures, and emergency response protocols.
• Maintain all required certifications and respond to emergencies appropriately.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
