Job summary

YMCA of Greater Syracuse is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead safe and engaging group exercise classes at the Southwest YMCA. The role requires maintaining certifications, adapting routines for varying fitness levels, and upholding YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

The position is part-time with a flexible schedule, and includes duties such as record-keeping and member education on wellness trends. Vaccination proof may be required by OCC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in a health and wellness field is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old to work in wellness.
• Ability to lead and motivate others and communicate effectively with members.
• Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and lead a safe and effective Group Exercise program.
• Maintain certifications current when instructing at the YMCA.
• Plan routines following YMCA guidelines for warm-up, structure, and music.
• Lead group exercise classes and adapt to varying wellness levels.
• Maintain attendance records and fit with safety standards.
• Educate members on health and wellness trends.
