Job summary

YMCA of Greater Syracuse is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to guide safe and engaging classes in the Downtown YMCA. You will deliver programs across Group Exercise, Mind/Body, and Cycle Studio, ensuring safety, enjoyment, and adherence to YMCA standards.

The role emphasizes member engagement, rotating schedules including some weekends, and maintaining current certifications while educating members on health trends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in health and wellness preferred.
• Must be 18+ to work in the Wellness Department.
• Ability to lead and motivate others.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and lead a safe & effective Group Exercise program(s).
• Maintain certifications current when instructing at the YMCA.
• Plan routines per YMCA standards for warm-up, cool down, and class structure.
• Lead group exercise classes following YMCA guidelines.
• Modify wellness classes to fit varying member levels.
• Educate members on health and wellness trends.
