Job summary

YMCA of South Alabama in Spanish Fort, AL is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead safe, engaging classes that support the YMCA's mission and promote healthy living for all.

Responsibilities include demonstrating technique, offering modifications for all levels, creating a welcoming, inclusive environment, ensuring participant safety, arriving prepared for each 60‑minute session, and reporting incidents or equipment issues to the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Current group exercise certification from a nationally recognized organization or YMCA-approved equivalent.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to the YMCA mission and core values.

Responsibilities

• Lead group exercise classes in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Demonstrate proper technique and offer modifications for all fitness levels.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating environment.
• Ensure participant safety and follow YMCA policies and procedures.
• Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes.
• Report incidents, injuries, or equipment issues to the supervisor.
