Job summary

YMCA of Reading & Berks County is seeking a dedicated Fitness Instructor to lead energetic group classes at our Adamstown location. You will create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere and show safe exercise techniques to participants of varying ages and fitness levels.

You will motivate members to reach goals, demonstrate proper form, monitor safety, and maintain a clean space while following YMCA safety procedures. Certification required or pursued.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Current instructor certification appropriate for the class being taught.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred or must be obtained within the timeframe.
• Knowledge of safe exercise techniques and proper form.
• Friendly, dependable, and able to motivate a group.
• Ability to demonstrate exercises and proper form.
• Ability to lift or move fitness equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Must successfully complete required Pennsylvania Child Abuse, Criminal History, and FBI clearances.

Responsibilities

• Lead energetic and engaging fitness classes.
• Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive atmosphere.
• Demonstrate proper exercise form and equipment use.
• Offer modifications for different fitness levels and abilities.
• Monitor participants and prioritize safety throughout each class.
• Get to know participants and help them feel connected to the YMCA community.
• Maintain a clean and organized workout space.
• Follow YMCA safety procedures and emergency protocols.
