Job summary

The City of Murfreesboro is seeking a Part-Time Fitness Wellness Instructor to conduct safe and effective aerobic, exercise, aquatic exercise, or conditioning classes sponsored by the Department. The incumbent must communicate in English and be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.

Duties include instructing classes, keeping equipment areas neat, updating routines every six weeks, finding substitutes when needed, enforcing facility rules, and providing CPR/AED aid when

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Fitness Wellness Instructor certification by AFAA/ACSM/ACE or another credible agency.
• Knowledge of fitness science and ability to apply while instructing class.
• Ability to design class activities for beginner, intermediate and advanced movements.
• CPR/AED certifications required or ability to obtain within three months.

Responsibilities

• Instructs assigned aerobic, exercise, or fitness classes safely and effectively.
• Communicates with participants and supervisors clearly; reports issues in a timely manner.
• Keeps activity and storage areas neat; assists participants with equipment.
• Changes fitness routines at least every six weeks.
• Finds substitute instructors when needed.
• Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
• Attends meetings and special training sessions as scheduled.
• Enforces facility rules for safety and welfare of staff and participants.
• Provides CPR/AED assistance when needed and responds to distress.
• Monitors participants for proper technique and safety; assists those needing help.
• Assists with various exercise programs and camps when requested.
