Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Certified by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area.
  • Must meet highly qualified status as determined by Alabama State Department of Education.
  • Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold school rules, regulations, and Board policies.
  • Participate in school and system operations through meetings and committees.
  • Do not take other employment that interferes with duties.
  • Follow the Code of Ethics for teachers.
  • Adhere to curriculum and materials approved by the State Board and Talladega City Board of Education.
  • Foster citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism through teaching.
  • Report for duty early and stay after school as required.
  • Meet and instruct classes assigned at designated times.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment within available resources.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and assist staff in discipline.
  • Prepare lessons and document preparation on request.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
  • Evaluate student progress per established procedures.
  • Seek specialist assistance and make referrals when appropriate.
  • Protect students and school property from hazards.
  • Be available to students/parents outside instructional hours by mutual agreement.
  • Collaborate with staff on activities, goals, and methods.
  • Assist in selecting instructional books and materials.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities as agreed.
  • Attend and contribute to faculty meetings.
  • Maintain professional relationships with parents and community.
  • Promote positive public relations for the school and system.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
