Job summary

Peralta Community College District seeks qualified Part-Time Faculty to provide high-quality instruction and student support in alignment with the District’s mission of advancing equity, student success, and academic excellence.

Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District’s colleges. This role emphasizes inclusive teaching and adherence to faculty development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher with 2 years of professional experience directly related to the discipline; OR Associate Degree with 6 years of professional experience directly related to the discipline; OR the equivalent.
• Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverse backgrounds of Peralta Colleges’ students, faculty, staff and community.
• Commitment to delivering engaging, inclusive instruction in day, evening, weekend, online or hybrid formats.
• Submit official transcripts and detailed work history as part of the application materials.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver effective, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner and maintain accurate academic records.
• Submit grades by established deadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful learning environment for diverse students.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Utilize the District’s learning management system and other instructional technologies as appropriate.
• Comply with District policies, agreements, accreditation standards, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in department meetings and college activities for part-time faculty.
