Job summary

YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South is seeking a Center Director for the Early Learning program. You will oversee multiple child development centers, coach staff, ensure program quality, and manage licensing compliance.

Responsibilities include curriculum planning, family engagement, enrollment growth, and coordination with state licensing agencies to meet standards and ensure safe, developmentally appropriate care across centers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of childcare experience preferred; comparable experience may be considered.
• Meets minimum qualifications for childcare director per Tennessee or Mississippi licensing standards; requires completion within 30 days.
• Knowledge of childcare licensing requirements for TN or MS and YMCA standards; ability to learn all standards within 60 days.
• Knowledge of early childhood development practices, milestones, and educational needs for infants through pre-K.

Responsibilities

• Lead center programs, supervise lead teachers, teachers, aides and staff.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned to state standards.
• Maintain records for licensing and safety; ensure compliance.
• Develop family engagement plans and oversee open houses and events.
• Support enrollment goals; coordinate professional development and new hire orientation.
