Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking instructors to deliver engaging classes in Athletics, Recreation, Fine Arts, and Community Education to students of all ages and abilities in Grand Rapids. Under supervision, design lesson plans, prepare materials, demonstrate techniques, ensure safety, and manage classrooms while upholding Safe From Harm policies.

Successful candidates will have experience teaching, appropriate certification or education, and the ability to communicate

Qualifications

Appropriate prior experience teaching or working in the area of instruction specified; required.
Certification or a degree in a related field or level of expertise is required.
Where applicable, must have up-to-date personal insurance prior to employment.
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Must be at least 18 years old
A minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching various or specific group exercise programs.

Responsibilities

Provide engaging, safe, and motivational instruction for all ages and skill levels.
Design lesson plans and instructional materials; present material clearly and demonstrate proper techniques.
Implement safety measures to ensure health and safety of class participants.
Maintain alignment with spiritual, emotional, and physical regeneration goals in all programs.
Communicate with program manager about class development and scheduling.
Provide feedback to participants regarding their progress and performance.
