Job summary

Berwick Academy in southern Maine seeks a collaborative, creative Communications Specialist to cover a 2–3 month maternity leave starting September 2026. You will actively shape communications across digital marketing, content creation, and public relations in a dynamic school environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field (completed or in progress).
Strong written and verbal communication with attention to brand consistency.
Proficiency with DSLR/mirrorless cameras for event photography and video production (video editing a plus).
Experience with social media management, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Workspace.
Understanding of media privacy protocols around PK-12 students.
Highly organized, self-starting, able to manage multiple projects and timelines.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time photography, videography, and social media coverage for key campus events.
Draft, edit, and proofread engaging copy for the school website, social channels, and internal newsletters.
Produce branded digital and print collateral using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud.
Organize and archive photos and video footage in the school’s media library.
Assist with routine website updates to ensure timely, engaging content.
Collaborate on initiatives with Admission and Advancement teams, offering rapid communications support during peak periods.
