Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 4+ years teaching Adult ESL/ESL or EFL courses
• Alternative: Bachelor's in Linguistics, TESOL, or related field
• Masters' degree preferred for the role
• Experience teaching at a community college or college-level courses is a plus

Responsibilities

• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
• Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
• Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
• Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
• Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
• Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
• Maintains regular office hours
• Stays abreast of current teaching methods and technology in the classroom
• Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
• Attends professional development opportunities per college requirements
• Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course
• Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up-to-date
• Participates in graduation exercises
