Job summary

GPM Investments’ Handy Mart store in Winterville, NC is hiring a full-time Cashier/Sales Associate. You will greet customers, operate the register, assist with lottery and age-restricted sales, and help keep the store clean and inviting. The role offers weekly pay, flexible schedules, and opportunities for advancement.

Ideal candidates are 18+, able to lift up to 50 lbs, and able to work weekends/holidays in a fast-paced retail environment. Prior CSR experience is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Weekend and holiday availability is required.
• Stand and be on your feet for most of the shift.
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Basic math skills required (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Friendly demeanor and reliable work ethic.
• Flexible to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Retail or customer service experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and operate the register with accuracy and speed.
• Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales with age verification and compliance.
• Offer friendly service and upsell when appropriate to boost sales.
• Keep store clean and safe inside and out, including bathrooms, pumps, and lot.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to maintain fresh product presentation.
• Cross-train in other departments as needed, such as deli.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies; be a team player.
• Be willing to step in wherever help is needed.
