Job summary

INTERDISTRICT SCHOOL FOR ARTS AND COMMUNICATION is seeking a Building Substitute Teacher to support classroom instruction under the School Principal's direction. The role involves assisting with instructional activities, managing student behavior, and ensuring a safe learning environment.

The position requires a minimum undergraduate degree, solid communication skills, and experience with secondary or at‑risk students. The role is on‑site and supports ongoing school operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum undergraduate degree or higher preferred.
• Strong communication with families, students, staff and visitors.
• Experience working with secondary students or students who are at‑risk, educationally disadvantaged, and/or possess a variety of disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and guides students to reinforce English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills.
• Utilizes classroom behavioral management systems to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and keep students on task.
• Monitors students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising lunch programs and other related duties.
• Assists students in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion and achievement of IEP objectives.
• Follows safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
