Qualifications

  • ABD (All but dissertation) or Ph.D. in American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Women’s/Gender Studies, Literature, History, Environmental Humanities, or a related discipline with a focus on environmental humanities and/or human‑animal studies.
  • Demonstrated strong college-level teaching skills and experience or potential to develop strong pedagogical skills.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, supported by cross-cultural study, training, teaching or comparable experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of courses in the American Studies concentration of the Humanities BA, including AMS 10, AMS 11, AMS 12 for undergraduates.
  • Hold regular office hours for students and collaborate with department faculty, staff, and chair.
  • Participate in required course grading and assessment activities.
  • Deliver classes as scheduled in the mode listed (asynchronous, synchronous, bicoroutine, in-person, or hybrid).
