Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge, NJ, invites applications for part-time Counselors to support Before and After school programs across multiple locations. You will help deliver a varied schedule, supervise children, and engage families to promote youth development in a safe, welcoming environment.

Formación

• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• Must have High School Diploma or be a Senior in High School
• Must have experience working with children in a structured group setting
• Must have ability to learn and think quickly to solve child-to-child situations
• Good communication skills and ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with implementation of a varied and challenging program of activities for children including Homework Time, Enrichment Activities, Organized Physical Activities, Free Play, and Snack Time.
• Assist Site Supervisor with supervision of all children on the site
• Build relationships with children and families - greet them in a positive manner every day
• Maintain discipline with children under the policy and Code of Conduct
• Assist Site Supervisor with motivating and encouraging all children to participate in program activities
• Provide a safe environment for children and follow safety procedures in emergencies
• Develop an organized, clean, and stimulating space: cleaning and disinfecting equipment; maintain space and materials; set up and clean up before/after arrivals
• Keep Site Supervisor apprised of situations related to children's behavior
