Qualifications

• Teacher’s certificate and appropriate degree required.
• Degree area must be mathematics or related field; alternatives may be considered by the Board.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes as scheduled.
• Plans a program of study meeting students' needs and abilities.
• Creates a conducive classroom environment for learning.
• Prepares for classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for each lesson.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media.
• Aims to implement the district’s philosophy of education and objectives.
• Assesses student progress and provides reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Maintains safety for students, equipment, and facilities.
• Maintains accurate records as required by policy and law.
• Supports administration in enforcing policies and rules for student life and conduct.
• Availablility to students and parents outside instructional days when required.
• Plans and supervises educational assistants and volunteers; collaborates with department heads.
• Maintains professional competence and participates in staff activities.
• Attends staff meetings and may serve on committees.
• Supervises extracurricular activities as assigned.
