Job summary

Tahquamenon Area Schools is seeking a 7-12 permanent substitute teacher for the duration of the school year. The role requires daily check-ins with TAS staff to receive assignments and active participation in delivering curriculum to grades 7 through 12.

The position emphasizes classroom management, adherence to TAS policies, collaboration with principals and staff, and ensuring engaging, standards-aligned instruction with consistent routines and supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have 60 credit hours and a 2.0 GPA from regionally accredited colleges/universities.
• Temporary Teaching Authorization valid for teaching.
• Current or expired Michigan Teaching Certificate.
• Out-of-State Teaching Certificate requires official undergrad transcript showing 60 credit hours and 2.0 GPA.

Responsibilities

• Lead 7th–12th grade classrooms as needed.
• Deliver a stimulating teaching-learning environment with diverse instructional tools.
• Review plans/schedules with building administrator.
• Attend professional development/meetings as required.
• Maintain high student conduct expectations and routines.
• Utilize approved instructional materials and technology.
• Create lesson plans when assigned to stay 3+ days in one classroom.
