Job summary

The YWCA of Western Massachusetts is seeking a Domestic Violence Services Counselor to provide emotional support, individual counseling, safety planning, court advocacy, medical advocacy, and support groups to survivors of domestic violence. The role also supports community outreach and education efforts.

The position is on a part-time schedule (18.75 hours/week), requires evening/weekend work, and involves on-call rotations at hospitals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Trauma-informed approach and sensitivity essential.
• Experience with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
• Public speaking and outreach experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person or virtual individual counseling to survivors of domestic violence.
• Offer safety planning and options to meet survivor-identified needs.
• Provide court and medical advocacy as needed.
• Facilitate education classes for survivors in English and Spanish.
• Participate in on-call rotation for medical advocacy at hospitals.
• Support outreach activities and community events.
• Maintain confidential documentation of services in AWARDS system.
