Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC, based in Virginia, seeks an experienced commercial driver to operate heavy vehicles for projects across Virginia, Maryland, and DC. The role requires a Class B CDL with manual transmission, a clean driving record, and DOT drug screening.

You will follow DOT guidelines, perform daily vehicle inspections, log mileage, and keep vehicles clean, while adhering to health and safety policies. Weekend overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Class B CDL required.
• Manual transmission experience required.
• Clean driving record with no major violations in the last 7 years.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT physical/drug screening.
• Ability to pass background checks for secure facility access (preferred).
• Willingness to perform manual labor to support projects.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial vehicle in various environments (traffic, construction sites, tight areas in VA, MD, DC).
• Knowledgable of DOT rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Complete daily pre- and post-trip inspections and maintain reports.
• Maintain daily mileage logs and work tickets.
• Keep assigned vehicle(s) clean and well-maintained.
• Support health and safety policies and company requirements.
• Build positive relationships with coworkers.
• Willingness to perform manual labor tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial vehicle while driving and maneuvering in a variety of situations, such as heavy traffic, construction sites, and tight areas within Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Complete daily pre- and post-trip inspection and maintain inspection reports.
• Maintain daily mileage logs and work tickets.
• Maintain assigned vehicle(s) to a high standard of cleanliness.
• Ensure the company’s health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met.
• Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers.
• Must be willing to perform manual labor related tasks to support projects.

Job Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Location: Richmond, New Kent, Chesterfield, VA

Working Hours: Start time is 6:00 AM. Overtime and weekends may be required.

Applicants must be 18 years of age and currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis in order to be considered.

For this role the base hourly range is $25.00-$35.00. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
