Job summary

Harrison Construction Company, a CRH Company, seeks a Dump Truck Driver to transport materials to construction sites across eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. This role requires safe operation of dump trucks, adherence to DOT regulations, and readiness to work nights, weekends, and out-of-town assignments as needed.

Qualified candidates will have a CDL (A/B), a minimum of 3 years of relevant driving experience, and the ability to use Trakit for daily timekeeping.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED preferred but not required.
• CDL Class A and/or B with valid license and clean MVR.
• Experience driving heavy dump trucks (3+ years).
• Ability to use Trakit for daily entries and timekeeping.
• Demonstrated safety and teamwork in construction settings.

Responsibilities

• Transport asphalt, stone, dirt to sites and facilities as directed.
• Perform pre/post-trip inspections and maintain logs per DOT.
• Follow dispatch instructions and report issues to supervisors.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform minor maintenance as needed.

Position Overview

The Dump Truck Driver is responsible for the transportation of material such as asphalt, stone, dirt, etc. to construction projects and company owned facilities or various customers. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of dump trucks. Work will be performed per the Foreman's instruction.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreperson, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
• Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines
• Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions
• Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs
• Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle
• Must keep vehicle in clean and orderly condition. Job requires cleaning and washing of vehicle

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

• High school education or GED preferred but not required
• Must have a minimum of 3 years experience driving truck with similar weight and equipment

Work Requirements

• Must be 18 years in age or older
• Must pass DOT physical, drug screen and criminal background check
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
• Ability to be flexible with schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required.
• Must be willing to work nights, weekends and out of town/county or state when necessary.
• Must report to the assigned job site and be ready to begin work at the designated start time
• Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level
• Strict adherence to Company safety requirements and procedures
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
• Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Must maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements, i.e., CDL, Class A and/or B Driver
• MVR must meet company standards
• Thorough operational knowledge and skill of dump truck
• Ability to use Trakit phone for daily entries and timekeeping
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety or working conditions
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail

• Job requires climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, sitting/driving and shifting gears and pulling
• Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear
• May require sitting for extended periods of time
• Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus
• Required regular lifting of 25 to 50 lbs. Occasionally may lift up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to adapt and work in all weather conditions

Work Environment

• The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn
• The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but is typically moderate
