Job summary

Harrison Construction Company, a CRH company, is seeking a Dump Truck Driver to transport materials to construction sites and company facilities. This skilled role requires safe operation of dump trucks per Foreman's instructions.

We value safety, reliability, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. Overtime and travel may be required as part of project needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks with similar weight/equipment.
  • Must maintain current CDL Class A or B license and meet state requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures; report problems to Foreperson, Safety Manager, or HR Manager.
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.
  • Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs and monitor gauges during operation.

Position Overview

The Dump Truck Driver is responsible for the transportation of material such as asphalt, stone, dirt, etc. to construction projects and company owned facilities or various customers. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of dump trucks. Work will be performed per the Foreman's instruction.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreperson, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines
  • Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions
  • Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs
  • Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle
  • Must keep vehicle in clean and orderly condition. Job requires cleaning and washing of vehicle
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience
  • High school education or GED preferred but not required
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience driving truck with similar weight and equipment
Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older
  • Must pass DOT physical, drug screen and criminal background check
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends and out of town/county or state when necessary.
  • Must report to the assigned job site and be ready to begin work at the designated start time
  • Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level
  • Strict adherence to Company safety requirements and procedures
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Must maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements, i.e., CDL, Class A and/or B Driver
  • MVR must meet company standards
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skill of dump truck
  • Ability to use Trakit phone for daily entries and timekeeping
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety or working conditions
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail
Physical Requirements
  • Job requires climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, sitting/driving and shifting gears and pulling
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus
  • Required regular lifting of 25 to 50 lbs. Occasionally may lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to adapt and work in all weather conditions
Work Environment
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn
  • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but is typically moderate
