Job summary

Job Description

Operates a dump truck and safely deliver construction material such as asphalt, borrow material, excavation and stone base to various projects.

Responsibilities

• Operate a dump truck but not limited to that type of truck.
• Perform pre-trip inspection on truck.
• Transport and deliver construction materials to projects in a timely manner.
• May perform other duties or operate other types of trucks.
• Must have adequate reading and writing skills because some paperwork is required.

Minimum Qualifications & Training

• One year experience but will train the right person.
• Must have a minimum of a CDL Class B.
• Valid Medical Card.
• Must be at least 19 years old.
• Ability to abide by precise instructions, strict but necessary safety rules and policies.
• Must be a reliable and trustworthy individual that will be a team player.
• Must maintain a good attendance and safety record.

Essential Job Functions

• Standing and walking required.
• Able to drive for long periods and stay alert and drive defensively.
• Ability to climb steps to perform task on the truck.
• Work long periods in elevated temperatures due to weather and materials.
• Operate equipment at recommended speeds and peaks of operation.
• Productive during each shift and willing to meet the goals that are set.
• Visual activity - ability to work safely in traffic and to know surroundings while driving, backing and maneuvering in sometimes congested areas.
• Clean debris and materials such as dirt, stone or asphalt from the tailgate area and sides of the truck when needed.
• Climb in the back of the truck to clean or loosen hardened materials that will not freely fall out of the truck when the bed is raised.
• Perform an accurate pre-trip and post trip inspection which causes the driver to pull the hood forward and then back again.
• Squatting and bending from time to time.
• Climb in and out of the truck numerous times a day using hand holds and steps to pull his/her weight up and down the steps using 3 points of contact.
