Job summary

St. James Elementary School in Denver, NC is hiring for a dual role: Teacher Assistant and Sub Bus Driver for a 10-month term, 6 hours daily. The position offers benefit-eligibility including holidays, leave, retirement, and insurance. Salary is based on NC State Retirement service and current Lincoln County pay scale.

The role supports students and teachers directly, with duties in instructional support, supervision, and clerical tasks. A valid NC CDL/NCCDL and WorkKeys may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Hold an Associate’s degree or higher, or 30 college hours, or pass WorkKeys.
• Must have valid NC driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain bus driver certification and follow safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students and teachers.
• Lead small group activities and reinforce lessons.
• Assist with clerical tasks and classroom setup.
• Operate a school bus and supervise students on trips.
