Job summary

Cumberland County Guidance Center in Bridgeton, New Jersey, seeks a Full-Time Dual Diagnosis Disorder Specialist to join the PACT team serving adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

You will conduct screenings, provide counseling, crisis intervention, and coordinate referrals within a multidisciplinary team, emphasizing recovery-oriented care and community-based services to improve quality of life.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a mental health, human services, social work, psychology, counseling or related field
  • Current CADC or LCADC credential

Responsibilities

  • Conduct substance use screenings, assessments, and recovery evaluations
  • Provide substance abuse counseling and recovery support services
  • Deliver crisis intervention, symptom assessment, and behavioral health support
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing and evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Help individuals develop relapse prevention strategies and long-term recovery plans
  • Coordinate referrals to detoxification, rehabilitation, outpatient treatment, and recovery support programs
  • Share responsibility for client caseload management within the multidisciplinary PACT team
  • Assist individuals in accessing benefits, housing resources, healthcare services, and community supports
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance standards

Cumberland County Guidance Center is seeking a Full-Time Dual Diagnosis Disorder Specialist to join our Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) team in Bridgeton, New Jersey.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor(CADC) or LicensedClinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor LCADC (additional applicable certifications include; Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), Certified MICA Specialist (CMS), Nationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (NCADC), Certified Drug Counselor (CDC), or Certified Alcohol Counselor (CAC)) who is passionate about helping individuals overcome substance use and mental health challenges. In this community-based role, you'll provide counseling, recovery support, crisis intervention, treatment coordination, and outreach services that help individuals build stability, achieve recovery goals, and improve their quality of life.

What You'll Do

As a Dual Diagnosis Disorder Specialist, you'll provide specialized services to adults living with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders through the PACT model of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct substance use screenings, assessments, and recovery evaluations
  • Provide substance abuse counseling and recovery support services
  • Deliver crisis intervention, symptom assessment, and behavioral health support
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) and evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Help individuals develop relapse prevention strategies and long-term recovery plans
  • Coordinate referrals to detoxification, rehabilitation, outpatient treatment, and recovery support programs
  • Share responsibility for client caseload management within the multidisciplinary PACT team
  • Assist individuals in accessing benefits, housing resources, healthcare services, and community supports
  • Participate in outreach and community-based service deliveryMaintain accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance standards
Required Qualifications
Education & Credentials
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Mental Health, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Current CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or LCADC (Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor) credential
Experience & Skills
  • Minimum two (2) years of post-certification experience working with:
    • Co-occurring Disorders
    • Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI)
    • MICA (Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted) populations
  • Knowledge of substance use treatment, addiction recovery, and behavioral health services
  • Experience providing counseling, recovery support, and community-based behavioral healthcare
  • Strong communication, engagement, and crisis intervention skills
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work a flexible 40-hour schedule
  • Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Commitment to recovery-oriented and person-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish-English bilingual skills
  • Experience with PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment) or ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) programs
  • Experience utilizing Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Knowledge of integrated treatment models for co-occurring disorders
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness and substance use disorders
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care
