Job summary

The Sarasota County Fire Department is seeking Firefighter-Paramedics to join a dynamic urban-rural system serving 335,539 residents and responding to nearly 70,000 calls annually. You will operate from 25 stations, participate in training, public education, and special operations, and advance through a robust, all-hazards program.

Applicants must hold EMT or Paramedic licensure, a valid Florida driver license, and pass NFPA 1582 medical standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess a current and valid EMT or Paramedic License.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver license (or obtain within 30 days).
• Must meet NFPA 1582 medical standards.
• Must satisfy Florida State requirements (633.412) and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Responds to medical and trauma emergencies using BLS and ALS techniques.
• Responds to fire suppression, hazardous materials, rescue and extrication incidents.
• Reports as essential personnel to callback related to County emergencies.
• Inspects fire and rescue apparatus at start of each tour and reports deficiencies.
• Maintains professional demeanor and personal welfare; participates in drills and continuing education.
